Office Watch support
Choose a clock, decide when monitoring starts, and keep control of your recordings.
First setup
- Open Office Watch and read the Privacy Policy & Recording Notice. Acknowledging the notice does not start the camera or enable recording.
- Use Test Camera to check your view and allow camera permission if prompted.
- Choose Digital or Analog, a color, brightness, and whether to show the date.
- Enable Record Motion Clips if you want saved videos. Leave it off for clock-only use, or detection-only monitoring when activated with a delay.
- Set your motion-start delay, then use the start button. Its label reflects your selections: Start Clock Only, Start Clock & Motion Recording, or Start Clock & Countdown.
Clock and activation
- Clock: Digital or Analog. Colors: Red, Amber, White, Teal, and Green.
- Brightness: Adjust the clock from 25% to 100%.
- Date: Show or hide the day and date.
- Activate when idle: Choose 10 seconds (test), 1 minute, 5 minutes, or 15 minutes. Leave the app running for idle activation.
- Motion-start delay: Choose 0–5 minutes in one-minute steps. During the countdown, the camera is off; the screen shows when monitoring will start.
- Clock controls: Controls hide after 3 seconds without input. Move the pointer or interact to reveal them, then choose Stop Clock.
Motion recording
- Record Motion Clips: Enables silent saved video when motion is detected. Stop monitoring before changing recording mode or clip settings.
- Motion sensitivity: Adjust from 0% to 100%. Test the setting in your actual workspace and lighting.
- Video recorded before motion: 1–15 seconds; default 1.
- Video recorded after motion: 5–20 seconds; default 10.
- Maximum clip length: 15, 30, 45, or 60 seconds; default 60.
- Monitoring Active: Indicates active camera monitoring. Detection-only mode does not save video; enable Record Motion Clips before restarting if you want saved clips.
View Recordings
Select a clip to play it. Use Save to Photos to export the selected video, Show Folder to open its local folder, Refresh to update the list, and the trash button to delete a clip after confirmation. Delete All removes the listed clips after confirmation; footage currently being recorded can continue. Copies saved to Photos remain there.
Monitoring can continue while you review clips. A recording in progress appears in the library when it finishes.
Storage
- Delete clips on a schedule: No scheduled deletion, or after 1, 7, 14, or 30 days. Selecting a period deletes eligible older clips now and checks hourly while the app is running.
- Prevent running out of storage: Optional cleanup deletes the oldest Office Watch clips when storage is low, including before their scheduled deletion date. It does not delete other files or Hotel Watch recordings.
- Keep important clips: Save them to Photos or copy them outside the Office Watch recordings folder.
Touch ID or Mac password
Require Touch ID or Mac password is optional and off by default. When enabled, authentication protects viewing recordings, opening their folder, stopping monitoring or the clock, normal quitting, and changes to automatic deletion. Changing the protection setting itself requires authentication.
This is an in-app safeguard. It does not encrypt video files, lock your Mac, or prevent force-quitting. Use macOS Lock Screen for device security.
Camera access, sleep, and locking
Camera permission is managed in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera. Photos permission is requested when you choose Save to Photos. Office Watch must remain running with your Mac awake and user session active. It does not override an explicit sleep command, closing a laptop lid, or macOS Lock Screen.
